Whate is Hypnosis?
Many people believe that hypnosis means they will lose control and be in the hypnotists power. This couldn't be further from the truth. The hypnotic state is perfectly natural state that the brain goes through on a daily basis, and is simply a slower, more relaxed state. In this state the unconcious mind is open to suggestion, and great, positive change is possible.
Many people think they will lose control. You always remain in control, and can choose to "wake up" at any time. As the unconcious mind always protects us from harm, and that is the part of the brain that the hypnotist will be speaking with, the unconcious mind will not allow us to come to any harm, either physical, mental or spiritual.
What is the unconcious mind?
The unconcious mind is the largest part of the brain (approximately 90% of it), the part that controls everything we do without concious thought. For instance, how do we know precisely how to walk? How does our body know to breathe? How can we carry out any repetitive task without having to conciously think about it? Our unconcious mind protects us in every way it can.
What can I expect to feel when I'm hypnotised?
Everybody reacts differently to hypnosis. Some people will relax immediately, some people may take a while longer. Some people may find that they enter an almost catatonic state, whereas others can hold a perfectly normal conversation. Some find that time speeds up and the session is over in what seems like a minute, and for some the sessions seems to last for days. Essentially we are all different, and apart from being in control of the trance state you may react differently in different sessions.
What problems can be fixed with hypnotherapy?
How big is your imagination? Hypnotherapy is pretty much as endless as your imagination. Obviously there are physical limts, so if your age precludes it, it can't be fixed with hypnotherapy. Apart from that prettymuch anything can be fixed. Phobias can be cured (believe me I know from first hand experience), we can change our behaviours (if we want to), increase confidence, decrease stress. You name it, it can be achieved.
