Introducing the fabulous new LIFT & TINT LASH TREATMENT
The latest lash treatment!
Do you want the extended look without the ‘falsies’?
Are you too sporty for mascara?
Too busy for make-up?
Whether you are a sporty girl, a working girl or a busy mum – THIS TREATMENT WAS MADE FOR YOU!
Throw away the mascara and the lash curlers and forget about the old lash perm because this is something else. Gone are the old perming rods which gave the over curled look.
Lashes are lifted onto a silicone pad, thus lifting them from the root. This gives a naturally extended, youthful, open eye look. The tint is then applied to make sure every lash is visible.
There is no sudden ‘droop’ either as it grows out naturally and slowly with your lashes.
In just one hour your eyes are transformed. No need for mascara and, even better, they last for up to 8 weeks
Dramatic results with no need for false lashes!
And the best news? The cost – ONLY £35!
BUT DON’T TAKE OUR WORD FOR IT – Read The Daily Mail’s review -Nicle Mobray of the Mail says “many treatments are billed as ‘making a difference to daily life’ but few actually have. However, here’s one that does’
A Little Bit of Waxing History
Waxing is a semi-permanent form of hair removal, which removes the hair from the root, unlike shaving or depilatory cream which remove hair from the surface. Because it removes from the root it takes much longer to grow back giving you a longer hair-free period. Another benefit of waxing is that it generally, especially over a number of treatments, grows back softer and without the harsh, stubbly effects that you get with shaving or creams.
So how long has waxing been around? Around 60BC! The ancient Egyptians developed the method of sugaring (using honey) to remove hair. Egypt at that time priced hairlessness on women as a symbol of beauty and youth. Later the ancient Greeks and Romans also adopted the fashion of hairlessness beauty and developed various different methods of removal including waxing using resin or pitch.
Us Brits didn’t really catch on until 1960s with the invention of the bikini!
More recently though it has become more popular with the gentlemen as well as the ladies. The trend started with sports people and models who wished to show definition of muscle and not to mention the whole sweating, chaffing thing!!
YES, BUT DOES’NT IT HURT I HEAR YOU ASK? NO! Provided your therapist is well trained in removal technique the pain should be minimal. There are different types waxes now available for different areas and they are skin friendly. Waxing isn’t like it used to be.
So now you know a little bit more about waxing!

The Broken Pot (courtesy of our friends at W.Sussex Chiropractors)
A water bearer in India had two large post, each hung on an end of a pol which he carried across his neck. One of the pots had a crack in it, and, while the other pot was perfect and always delivered a full portion of water at the end of the long walk from the stream to the masters house, the cracked pot arrived only half full.
For a full two years this went on daily, with the bearer delivering only one and a half pots full of water in his master’s house. Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments, perfect to the end for which it was made. But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of it’s own imperfection, and miserable that it was able to accomplish only half of what it had been made to do. After two years of what it perceived to be a bitter failure, it spoke the water bearer one day by the stream.
“I am ashamed of myself, and I want to apologise to you”
“Why?” asked the bearer. “What are you ashamed of?”
“I have been able, for these past two years, to deliver only half my load because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your master’s house. Because of my flaws, you have to do all this work and you don’t get full value from your efforts.” the pot said.
The water bearer felt sorry for the old cracked pot, and in his compassion he said, “As we return to the master’s house, I want you to notice the beautiful flower along the path”.
Indeed, as they went up the hill, the old cracked pot took notice of the sun warming the beautiful wild flowers on the side of the path, and this cheered it some. But at the end of the trial, it still felt bad because it had leaked out half it’s load, and so, again, the Pot apologised to the bearer for its failure.
The bearer said to the pot, “Did you notice that there were flowers only on your side of the path, but not on the other pot’s side? That is because I have always know about your flaw, and I took advantage of it. I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day, while we walk back from the stream, you have watered them. For two years I have been able to pick these beautiful flowers to decorate my master’s table. Without you being just the way you are, he would not have this beauty to grace his house.”
Each of us has our own unique flaws. We are all cracked pots. Do not be afraid of your flaws. Acknowledge them, and you too can be the cause of beauty. Know that in your weakness your strength is made perfect.

Who’s in charge? How to find true happiness and take control of your life.
Who is in charge of your life? It may seem like an odd question, but one that I regularly ask. I ask it of myself, my family and friends, and my clients. The answer may seem initially obvious, but wait a minute and consider the question a bit more deeply. If you immediately answer that you are in charge of your life, consider another question, are you truly happy in ALL aspects of your life? If you can say yes, without question, limit or but, then that’s great, read on in the knowledge that you know the answers. If not then you may not be quite as in control as you imagine. Read on and you may find new ways to help. If you said you weren’t in control of your life then definitely read on, I sometimes make sense!
Responsibility
When I studied for my NLP, Neuro Linguistic Programming, Practitioner course I was challenged to take responsibility for everything that happened in my life, the good and the bad. I started by saying that was crazy (How can I be responsible for the weather? How can I be responsible for other people taking what I say the wrong way? and many such other answers), but after a while I looked a bit deeper, and talked to my NLP trainer about what it actually meant. I didn’t have to be responsible for the weather, but I did have to take responsibility for my reaction to it. I didn’t have to be responsible for a train being delayed, but I could be responsible for how I react to it. Slowly, very slowly, it started to make sense.
As a quick aside here we can learn so much from children about finding the positive in situations. They haven’t learned, yet, to put restrictions on how they react to things. For instance does a young child moan because it’s raining? Generally not, they go and splash in the puddles! The Dalai Lama cites children as the best example, suggesting the basic nature of man is pure. “Children play together if allowed”, regardless of religion, race, or colour. “The mind is neutral,” our destructive emotions come from ignorance. Watch your children, their sense of fun and freedom can teach us so much, if we allow it to. But more about that another time…..
At some point I made a decision that I was going to take responsibility for my reaction to things that happen, and my life started to change! Sometimes when it rained I’d jump up like a little kid and get my wellies on (That’s not a metaphor, or a joke, I actually did)! And when it snowed, I’m sure you can imagine, but in case not think snowballs, snow angels, sliding down hills and of course the inevitable hot chocolate, courtesy of my loving wife Amanda! If a train was delayed, or there was a unexpected road closure, then I would get to where I was going and I’d do something else to make use of my time rather than get upset (meditation is a great one for these situations, and meditating on a non-moving M23 with the roof down on a sunny day was a lovely experience!). If I said something and got a reaction I wasn’t expecting I would find a way that the other person would understand (I took to heart the NLP presupposition “The meaning of communication is the response you get”).
It really is a life changer when you realise that no matter what you do, sh*t is going to happen. You can’t change that, but you can change your reaction to it and therefore change the outcome!
Now a little challenge for you. Just for today look for the positive in situations. Don’t find reasons not to enjoy your life, do find excuses to play!
Gardening and how great it is for you
Gardening has always been a real love of mine. Health wise it is a great form of exercise but I also find it very therapeutic, and not just heavy gardening but planning, planting, deadheading, general tidying and of course, just sitting in it. There is nothing better than planting seeds, bulbs or small plants and watching them grow. Mentally I can get totally lost whilst gardening and not think about anything else. Since starting my Container Gardening Business, it has enabled me to share that ‘feel good factor’ with other people.
One of my clients is over 90, she loves her garden and really enjoys sitting out on the patio. It is quite a small garden with lots of pots – the kind I like best – but she can no longer look after it herself. I arrived one morning for my regular visit and she was feeling quite down. 2 hours later I had tidied and weeded the flower beds and containers, trimmed and deadheaded and planted some hanging baskets. She turned to me and said ‘You don’t know how much better I feel now’. Of course, that made me feel really good too.
For the past 5 years I have planted up and maintained the beds and containers at a local Pub which has won a Horsham in Bloom prize every year since I have been doing it. Many people stop as they pass by and comment on it. They say how lovely it looks, how they love walking by and what a good job I am doing. I have got to know a lot of them really well now. They seem to enjoy it as much as I do.
I also make up planters as gifts for birthdays, Christmas, Easter and any other occasion. It’s nice to see peoples face light up when I deliver their gift.
Of course, it is not just outdoor plants that are good for you. Indoor plants can lift the spirits and give a nice feel good factor but they are very beneficial to your health too.
They can purify the air, absorb toxins, and give off health-giving oxygen and water vapour.
Some of the beneficial effects proven by research are:
- Increased positive feelings
- Reduced feelings of anxiety, anger and sadness
- Reduction of sound levels
- Faster recovery from mental tiredness
- Improved concentration
- Reduction of absenteeism in the workplace
- Control of Humidity
- Improved concentration and productivity
So the message here is gardening is good for you, plants are good for you. If you can’t manage to do this yourself, then I can help. I can offer advice on what plants to have in the home and what type of plants to plant in the garden according to the type of soil, position and conditions.

Massage, Meditation, Hypnotherapy, Athletes & You
Massage, Meditation, Hypnotherapy, Athletes & You
With everyone glued to the splendour of the Olympics and those amazing athletes, we can only wonder at what it has taken in training, sacrifice and determination to get them there. We strongly suspect that whatever admiration and awe we are watching with now will only increase with the start of the Para Olympics.
We have been lucky enough to look after a number of marathon runners this year at Ananda Healing. We have seen first hand what it takes to drive yourself forward through rain, pain and mental torment – when every fibre of your being is telling you to stop. Athletes seem to be built from stronger stuff than us mere mortals, but are they? Could it just be they have a stronger why? It seems to us that the only thing that separates us is their reason why. Could it be that if you dug deep and found a reason to do something that became so strong it would elevate you to a different league in your chosen area?
Some of you may also be wondering where Ananda Healing fitted into the sports training programme. Well, mainly with massage but also with meditation, hypnotherapy and NLP. Research is now proving the benefits of massage to athletes, with improved cell repair rate, in particular. Meditation – we you know that is our pet subject and everyone should do it! Duncan is also finding a number of sports people in particular are benefiting from the mind training techniques of Hypnotherapy & NLP which is invaluable to them to improve their game – the mind needing as much training as the body!
So you are not a top athlete or even aspiring to be one – how can you benefit from therapies?
Everyone can benefit from massage in particular as it lowers blood pressure, reduces pain (even in chronic conditions such as arthritis), releases “happy” hormones to improve your feelings of mental health and well-being. . As for meditation – again, don’t even get us started – we have a recent client who has just finished her meditation course who says she cannot believe the impact it has had on her life; she feels centred and peaceful for the first time in years! And finally, the hypnotherapy & NLP – maybe your first step to improved health is to give up smoking? Perhaps you don’t want to run a marathon but would just like to get through the day without that fear, phobia or habit controlling you?
If you’re having difficulty in getting your why clear and bright enough to drive you, speak to us about our Vision Boarding & Goal Setting workshop!
We made a promise to ourselves when we started this practice – we would be here to serve and to do what we could to improve life for you. That drive started us out four years ago and it drives us today – THAT IS OUR WHY!
Commuting – The Consequences
Did you know, according to recent research from Sweden, couples where one partner commutes are 40% more likely to divorce?
Other research has shown commuters have increased risk of obesity, insomnia, stress and muscle aches.
What exactly does this research tell you then? Well no more that we already suspected and that is -
COMMUTING REALLY IS NOT GOOD FOR YOU AND IT CERTAINLY ISNT ANY FUN
So what can you do to improve your lot as a commuter?
The first and most obvious thing is to move house or change your job but if that were possible you would have done it already right? So could there be answers elsewhere?
Well, as a therapist I would say “Yes”
The immediate issue to address is the stress. Long term stress has an impact on the mental, emotional and physical wellbeing. In fact, it is argued that the obesity, insomnia and muscle discomfort and even the divorce rate, are all the effects of the stress.
How do we relieve this stress?
This is down to personal choice – it may be joing the gym, jogging, taking up a new hobby. As long as it is healthy it will help – The key word here is healthy. Many a stressed individual has sought relaxation in the form of drugs or alcohol but the answer is not found here, only more problems.
I would certainly recommend regular relaxation treats such as massage to improve your wellbeing. However, by far, the single most significant and achievable change you can make for the benefit of your mental, physical and emotional wellbeing is LEARN TO MEDITATE
It is simple, easy to learn and may well change your life – it will certainly change your health
What Is Healing?
What is healing? A question we are often asked. The lovely explanation was given to us by Mary Maddux at www.heartofhealing.net in California.
Healing is a spontaneous event that comes about through a kind of grace. It can happen anytime, and in any place. It may or may not happen in the context of a healing session. It may come about simply with a smile from a stranger, the breeze blowing through the trees, the song of a bird – some reminder of our connectedness and wholeness – the beauty of life just as it is a t this moment for us.
Healing can happen on may different levels. Sometimes our healing is not what we expect. We need to be open to the gifts which life is always ready to give us. It may be that a physical problem heals, but it may also stay awhile to teach us something. Sometimes a health challenge is a doorway to a deeper healing, a cry from deep within for attention to some part of us that has been unloved and feels separated from the Whole.
Regardless of whether our focus in healing is on the physical, mental, emotional or spiritual level, all levels are invariably touched by the process, and none can be separated out from the rest.
Thank you Mary for giving us permission to use our beautiful words on our Ananda Healing blog.
